College football live updates, scores: Week 2 schedule features Alabama, Notre Dame, BYU in action

In the first big road test for freshman QB Faizon Brandon, Tennessee simply leaned on the run to wear down Georgia Tech and pick up a win. The Volunteers racked up 299 rushing yards while averaging 6.6 yards per attempt, and DeSean Bishop had an enormous day with 147 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The Yellow Jackets' defensive front didn't have any answers as Tennessee ripped off one chunk gain after another in the second half. Outside of a sloppy third quarter, the Tennessee defense was relatively stout. The Vols intercepted Alberto Mendoza twice, and they got to the Georgia Tech QB for four sacks. The Volunteers will have to be way more disciplined after taking 14 penalties for 142 yards. The CyHawk Series always comes down to the wire, and this matchup was no different. It wasn't the most aesthetically pleasing brand of football -- the teams combined for 515 total yards -- but it was a competitive game throughout. After Iowa State took a 10-0 lead in the first half, Iowa managed to scored 16 of the next 19 points to steal a win. The biggest play of the night came off the foot of Hawkeyes kicker Caden Buhr, who drilled a game-winning field goals with 15 seconds remaining. Iowa now halts a two-game losing skid in the series, and more importantly, it's off to a 2-0 start with Big Ten play quickly approaching. The Tigers were only up by three points at halftime, but they have leaned on the Bulldogs since coming out of the locker room. After a tough first half, quarterback Sam Leavitt has found big tight end Trey'Dez Green over and over in the second half. Green is now up to six catches for 104 yards and a touchdown. You can turn off the upset alert sirens. The CyHawk Series is delivering exactly the type of football you'd expect. Whether that's a good thing or a bad thing depends on your perspective. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, after all. It's been tough sledding for both offenses, but each side has done enough to claw its way into the end zone once. The Hawkeyes did start to find more of a groove before halftime, and it's notable that Hank Brown is the only quarterback Iowa has used. Late in the first half, Brown powered his way into the end zone to get the Hawkeyes on the board. Either Louisiana Tech is a playoff contender, or Clemson is really bad. After looking like a team of world-beaters in Week 1, LSU is experiencing a letdown against Louisiana Tech. Quarterback Sam Leavitt has already thrown two interceptions, and the latest one was on the Bulldogs' goal line and was returned for a 100-yard pick-6. Beyond that, the Tigers have been unable to run the football. They're averaging 1.9 yards per carry, and no player has more than 18 yards on the ground.
