Verbena Free Spirited in Hingetown to close after three years

CLEVELAND, Ohio --Verbena Free Spirited in Cleveland’s Hingetown neighborhood is closing at the end of the month. In three years serving and selling non-alcoholic beverages, the concept had become a gathering space holding book clubs, tarot readings and more. “When I started developing Verbena five years ago, the non-alcoholic space looked completely different,” said owner Molly Cheraso in a statement. After considerable planning, she opened Verbena in July 2023. “Now the options are genuinely great, and they’re showing up everywhere. So, my focus is shifting — I’ll continue hosting non-alcoholic events and want to do more consulting with restaurants to help get excellent N/A options onto menus across the city,” she said. Saturday, Sept. 26 will be the last full day of service. On Sunday, Sept. 27, Cheraso will hold a goodbye party serving drinks and selling remaining products. The next iteration for the space is to be determined. Verbena is at 1434 W. 29th St., Cleveland.
